1. Bears picks measure up well — for most part

They don't wear scientist smocks in the Bears' draft room, and the scouts understand that game tape isn't just something to wrap around joints on Sundays.
They don't wear scientist smocks in the Bears' draft room, and the scouts understand that game tape isn't just something to wrap around joints on Sundays. But since Bears general manager Phil Emery started the discussion during the draft when he...

3. Under Armour founder Kevin Plank sees himself as the underdog

Kevin Plank may have sold the first Under Armour shirts from the back of his car, but as his reach has grown, so too have his wheels: These days, he jets around the world, recently to five Asian cities in six days, but managed to get back home to Baltimore to watch a member of his celebrity-filled stable of athletes play in a game.

5. Ravens could use two tight ends more often in 2013

The Ravens offense will be different without wide receiver Anquan Boldin, whose strong hands and bulky frame allowed him to snatch the majority of the passes in his area and, in turn, endear himself to Joe Flacco.

9. Flacco vs. Roethlisberger is finally worth debating

I clicked onto the Ravens website this morning and saw “Flacco vs. Big Ben” splashed across my screen. With the NFL draft now behind us and not much going on in the next couple of months, it looks like we are now in the compare-and-...

13. Ravens news, notes and opinions

The common conclusion from the Ravens’ decision to re-sign Bryant McKinnie was that the organization wasn’t yet comfortable with the idea of Kelechi Osemele starting at left tackle. I’m sure there is plenty of truth to that even though team officials suggest that’s not the case. However, the reason why the McKinnie move was a no-brainer – at least in my mind – was that the Ravens couldn’t risk potentially weakening two positions along the offensive line. Osemele may very well develop into a quality left tackle in the NFL. However, who replaces Osemele at left guard? Osemele was dominant at times when he moved from right tackle to left guard for the playoff run. Could Jah Reid play at that high of a level? How about Ramon Harewood or fifth-round draft pick Rick Wagner? The Ravens’ offense made too many strides last year to start the coming season with a completely new pairing on the left side of the offensive

15. On common ground, Orioles and Nationals have complicated relationship

For decades, the Orioles commanded a sweeping empire of fans — a territory larger than some European countries, stretching from southern Pennsylvania to North Carolina and including Washington, where the team operated a popular retail store.
