1. What's new to eat at the ballparks?

At Wrigley: Every season Levy Restaurants, which handles the concessions at Wrigley Field, manages to come up with a few new food items for fans to try. You may have to search a bit for these new items, some of which are available in only one or two spots in the park. The most inventive, if somewhat impractical, newcomer is the Chicken and Waffle Stix, which jams two waffles and three pieces of fried chicken (boneless) on a skewer; it comes with an open cup of bacon-maple dipping sauce and is a challenge to eat neatly; price is $10, or $13.25 if you include the cost of dry-cleaning my sweater.

I'm not sure I know of a more-showstopping restaurant than Kaluz. It sits under the bridge that crosses the Intracoastal at Commercial Boulevard. The lot once housed Roadhouse Grill, but the walls are all that remains of the old building. Designed by ID...

  7. More than one way to fillet a fish

Not to get all iconoclasty on you, but chefs are not gods; recipes are not sacred texts. If anything, recipes are guidelines, repositories of good ideas.

  13. Think Spring: Freshen up meals to taste the season

It’s the season for brighter, fresher flavors. The tangy sweetness of strawberries, the tender grassiness of just picked asparagus, the refreshing sharpness of sorrel and the spice of young garlic and onions are just what we’re longing for after the darker, heartier foods of winter.
