  • Pet of the Week

    Pet of the Week
Who could resist this handsome boy? Like his namesake cookie, Oreo is black and white and very sweet. He is a healthy 9-year-old (middle-aged in feline terms) who is friendly with other cats and people. Found as a stray in May, he watched as many other cats and kittens were adopted. One of his favorite pastimes is lying in the sun, looking out the door and perhaps dreaming about a new home of his own. This is a mellow and easygoing cat. Oreo's longing gaze says he is ready to adopt you, if you will care for him. Throughout August, adoption fees are discounted 35% for all kittens and adult cats; about 40 are still available. For more information, call (714) 536-8480 or visit http://www.ochumanesociety.com. Donations of wet cat food (pate-style) and cat toys continue to be needed.

Tony, a fun-loving and athletic 2-year-old, was found as a stray and has spent much of his life in a kennel. This is hardly fair to a lively boy who wants nothing more than to play — often rolling in the grass or getting down to crawl toward a toy....

Concert Review: Huntington's APA puts twist on Beatles' album
In 1966, John Lennon made an infamous — and, by his reckoning, misunderstood — comment that the Beatles were "more popular than Jesus now." Thursday night in Huntington Beach, the Fab Four met religion again, and it was evident which side...
