  1. The Valley Line: Hats and flowers mark Thursday Club's fashion show

It was a lovely warm March day when the La Cañada Thursday Club held its annual fashion show luncheon. The event was a rousing welcome to spring and many of the 200 ladies attending the event were wearing their best chapeaux. It was fun to see the different hats — small "fascinators" such as what one might wear to have tea with Princess Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, to floppy-brimmed hats of bright colors just meant for an afternoon outing on a sunny day.

  15. The Crowd: Seeing the light through philanthrophy

One of the most important charitable and social organizations in Southern California held its annual confab March 28 at the Langham Huntington hotel in Pasadena. The Luminaires' annual spring benefit supporting the renowned Doheny Eye Institute took on the theme of "Seaside Spectacular" for the 38th annual spring celebration, which attracted an important contingent of Orange County citizens helping to raise more than $100,000 for the cause.
