Briefs: Oilers football camp opens Monday

The Huntington Beach High Football Camp for youth starts Monday at the school.

The camp, geared to safely prepare intermediate-aged athletes for a successful high school experience, is open to youth grades who will enter grades third through eighth in the fall. Daily camp sessions are from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday through Thursday through June 27.

Campers will participate in four phases of football: field workouts, weight room, speed and power training (grades 6-8 only), classroom and football instruction (grade 6-8 only), and a character development seminar.

The cost is $150 per camper. Checks should be made payable to Eric Lo (Attn.: Eric Lo, 1905 Main Street, Huntington Beach, CA, 92648).

Barons hoops summer camp to start

The 22nd annual Roger Holmes Boys and Girls Youth Basketball Camp opens Monday at Fountain Valley High.

The camp will run between 10 and 11:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday each week through July 19 at the school’s gymnasium. The camp is open to youth grades 3-8.

The Ocean View High baseball program will run a summer camp for incoming freshman starting Monday.

The camp will run three days a week through July 11. The cost is $100 per camper.

Fountain Valley summer baseball camp opens Tuesday

The Fountain Valley High baseball program’s summer camp for incoming freshmen and eighth-grade students starts next Tuesday at the school’s varsity baseball field.

The camp runs between 9 and 11 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday through July 25. No camp will be held July 4.

The cost is $100 per camper and checks should be made payable to Fountain Valley High School Baseball.

Soccer goalie sought

FC Impact B00 Black, a boys’ under-13 soccer team based in Huntington Beach, is looking for a goalkeeper.

The team practices at Vista View Middle School in Fountain Valley on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and additional goalkeeper training is provided at the same location or the Huntingon Beach Sports Complex. The team will play in the Southern California Developmental Soccer League (SCDSL) Flight II in the fall. This established team is coached by Nico Booij and a three-member staff.

Lifeletics Baseball announces summer schedule

Lifeletics Baseball, located in Huntington Beach, has announced its 2013 summer camp schedule.

The camps, entering their 12th year, will run from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday starting Monday through Aug. 16. Camp costs are: Beginning Baseball Week ($99); one week ($199); two weeks ($379). During a special promotion now underway, with the purchase of two weeks, the cost for a third week is $99.

Camp locations are in Huntington Beach, Newport Beach and south Orange County (Santa Margarita and Trabuco Canyon). The Huntington Beach camps will be held at Wardlow Field (Huntington Valley Little League) and Murdy Park (Ocean View Little League).

Campers will work with current professional instructors, former professional players and area high school coaches. Training will involve a wide variety of drills, games and competitions. Instruction is specific, varied and fast-paced to ensure athletes learn to enjoy working hard.
