Tuesday’s nonleague game was the third in four days for Edison which played twice Saturday at Ocean View High. The Chargers dropped a close, 9-7 game to Santa Barbara, but defeating La Jolla, 10-8.

Jensen scored three goals, Cleveland scored twice and May and Kayla Atkinson once each, and Josette Santos recorded eight saves, in the loss to Santa Barbara (No. 7, Division 1).

Jensen, May, Cleveland, Julie Harrison and Lyndsie Williams all scored twice and Santos again had eight saves, in the win over La Jolla.

In another nonleague game Dec. 6, Edison fell, 9-7, at San Clemente (No. 4, Division 2). Jensen scored three times and Cleveland and Williams each scored twice.

“Our schedule is brutally tough and I am so proud of these girls,” Edison Coach Diggy Riley said. “It is early in the season and we are showing signs of being a really good team. Our girls battled and competed hard against San Clemente, Santa Barbara and La Jolla, all of whom are very, very good teams.

“I thought against Laguna, we came out strong. We started making critical mistakes which led to some easy goals for Laguna. As a team, we need to learn off these losses, and getting in the film room to analyze these games is a priority of ours.”

Edison is currently playing in the Villa Park Tournament which runs through Saturday.
