Great Oak also won the Southern Section girls’ Division 1 title.

Edison, which started the season ranked No. 9 in CIF Southern Section Division 1, fell, 10-3, to Rosary in its season opener Nov. 26 at Ocean View High.

“Opening against a very good Rosary team challenged us not only physically, but more importantly, mentally,” Edison Coach Diggy Riley said. “We were prepared, but just came out mentally a little lost, especially on the counter defending aspect of the game. Our reaction time was way off.

“We will regroup and prepare for another very tough two weeks.”

The Chargers go to San Clemente for a 3:15 p.m. nonleague game Thursday. They play host to both Santa Barbara (10 a.m.) and La Jolla (noon) Saturday at Ocean View High.

Santa Barbara is ranked No. 7 in Division 1.
