Huntington Beach Oilers Clinic Division team came out strong in its first game of the 2013 Jr. All-American Football Season Saturday against the Long Beach Jackrabbits and scored a convincing, 36-13 victory at Huntington Beach High.
Jonah Del Rosario of the Oilers dominated on both offense and defense. Huntington was quick to score behind an unstoppable offensive line. The first touchdown came on a quarterback run by Nate Skorheim with solid performances by Aden Eckenwiler, Blake Gilbert, Lyrik Fata, Andrew Ancona, Joseph Vardayo, Jordan Gozon, Riley Rozenkranz and Halu Ikeda. Skorheim also laid out a perfect scoring pass to Del Rosario for the Oilers' second touchdown.
Long Beach got its offense going in the second quarter and scored but Huntington's defense stepped it up with a huge tackle by Garrett Smith and line help from Tyler Gioia, Jonathan Brown and Ethan Rumney. New Oilers Jeffrey Lindquist, Tyler Zink and Cade Carnival made second-half contributions as Huntington opened up an 18-point lead.
