Kendall Small will transfer from Ocean View High, Ocean View Athletic Director and boys’ basketball coach Tim Walsh said Friday.

Walsh confirmed that Small is leaving Ocean View and it is his understanding that the 6-foot point guard will transfer to Lakewood Mayfair High.

Small played varsity basketball and started at Ocean View in both his freshman and sophomore years. The junior-to-be is a two-time All-Golden West League player and was the league’s Most Valuable Player this year.

Small turned in an outstanding 2012-13 season at point guard. During his sophomore year, he averaged 21 points, six rebounds and three assists per game and helped guide the Seahawks to another Golden West League championship. He played a key role as the Seahawks, who also won the GWL title in 2012 during his freshman year, advanced to the CIF Southern Section 3A Division semifinals where they were edged by top-ranked and eventual division champion Bellflower St. John Bosco.

Small went on to be named to the 2013 All CIF Southern Section 3A Division Boys’ Basketball Team.
