Ocean View Orioles rule

The Ocean View Orioles defeated league rival, the Ocean View Yankees, 7-1, in the division final to win the district championship.

Micah Blake went three for four and connected on a three-run home run, and Rocco Peppi gave a strong pitching performance and registered a complete-game victory for the Orioles who led the entire way.

The Orioles jumped out to an early lead on the Yankees by scoring seven runs in the first three innings. A groundout by Vincent Caiazzo and an RBI double by Jaron Wallace in the first inning, and Blake's three-run home run and a wild pitch that led to a score in the second inning, supplied the early offense for the Orioles.

Blake drove in four runs in the game.

Peppi handled the Yankees, racking up seven strikeouts. He allowed one earned run on five hits and one walk over six innings.

The Orioles accumulated 13 hits in the game from 10 different players.

"All 12 players contributed all season long and I wish it didn't have to end," Orioles Coach Marcus Carles said.

Ocean View's run to the Majors title included wins against Costa Mesa American No. 2 (12-0), Seaview No. 2 (6-3), Robinwood No. 1 (7-2) and the Ocean View Yankees.

The Orioles roster: Micah Blake, Vincent Caiazzo, Ryan Carles, Matthew De Heras, Andrew Hovis, Christian Jones, Tyler Laforce, Aaron Marchbanks, Rocco Peppi, Bruno Stenzel, Jaron Wallace, Parker Walpole. Manager: Marcus Carles.
