Youth Scene: Stingers win area title

The Huntington Beach Region 55 girls’ Under-10 Gold all-star team, Stingers, won an Area K championship Sunday.

In the title game of the two-weekend tournament which drew eight regional all-star teams, the Stingers faced Orange. Annabelle Low’s goal in the final minute broke a tie score and gave the Stringers a 2-1 victory

The Stringers advance to the Sectional Tournament in February where they will face the top all-star teams from Los Angeles and San Diego counties.

The Stingers are led by head coach Tim Imhoff and assistant coach Brian Meehan. The Stingers are Kira Imhoff, Kelly Meehan, Sophia Harmon, Leyla Priest, Sydney Murrey, Lexie Payson, Heather Prince, Annabelle Low and Grace Anderegg.

Swim sessions

A swim program for youth eighth-grade-and-under run by Edison water polo and swim coach Diggy Riley is being offered at Edison High.

Daily swim sessions will run from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. each Tuesday and Thursday through March 6.
