Briefs: Golf fundraiser coming

The Huntington Beach High baseball program will hold the second Collin Balester-Hank Conger Giveback Golf Invitational next Monday. The shotgun start is 10:30 a.m. at SeaCliff Country Club (6501 Palm Ave.) in Huntington Beach.

Registration for the tournament, which benefits the Huntington Beach High baseball program’s “Dream Field Foundation,” begins Monday at 9:30 a.m. The cost per player if $150 and includes green fees, cart and a barbecue dinner. The tournament scramble is a four-person team scramble. Individual players not entered with a team, will be placed with other players to form a foursome.

Huntington Beach baseball coach Benji Medue said that former Oilers and co-hosts of the tournament, Collin Balester (Class of 2004, Montreal Expos) and Hank Conger (2006, Los Angeles Angels), will take part in the tournament. Other professional players schedule to attend include Huntington alum Beau Amaral (Cincinnati Reds, Class A), Edison alum David Huff (New York Yankees), Stephen Strasburg (Washington Nationals), Mark Trumbo (Arizona Diamondbacks), Joe Kelly (St. Louis Cardinals), and Nolan Arenado (Colorado Rockies).

Swim sessions

A swim program for youth eighth-grade-and-under run by Edison water polo and swim coach Diggy Riley is being offered at Edison High. Daily swim sessions will run from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. each Tuesday and Thursday through March 27.
