Softball registration wraps up Saturday

Registration for South Huntington Beach Girls Fastpitch Softball is available online through Saturday at https://www.shbgfs.org. The league is an Amateur Softball Assn. recreational softball league for girls ages 5 to 14.

Katin surf contest starts in January

The Katin Pro/Am Team Challenge will run for two days starting Jan. 6 at the north side of the Huntington Beach Pier. The event will combine elements of team and traditional surfing competition formats and champions will be decided in team and individual divisions.

Past winners at the contest, which began in the 1960s, include World Champions Shaun Tomson, Tom Curren, Martin Potter, Sunny Garcia and Kelly Slater.
