Marina boys’ soccer tourney starts Thursday

The 26th annual Marina Holiday Classic boys’ soccer tournament starts Thursday with opening round pool-play games starting at 7:30 a.m. at Marina High.

Eighteen CIF Southern Section boys’ soccer teams are entered in the tournament. Local teams Marina, Huntington Beach, Ocean View and Fountain Valley, are vying for the title. The 18 teams will be divided into five pools of three teams each.

Marina defeated Sunset League rival Fountain Valley in last year’s final of the Holiday Classic.

Pool A: Fountain Valley, Dominguez, Mayfair.

Pool B: Los Alamitos, Fullerton, Tustin.

Pool C: St. John Bosco, Long Beach Jordan, Newport Harbor.

Pool D: Huntington Beach, Ocean View, Lakewood.

Pool E: Westminster, Colton, Aliso Niguel.

Pool F: Marina, Redondo Union, Garey.

Thursday schedule

7:30 a.m.: Fountain Valley vs. Dominguez (Field 1); Los Alamitos vs. Fullerton (Field 2); St. John Bosco vs. Long Beach Jordan (Field 3).

9 a.m.: Westminster vs. Colton (Field 1); Marina vs. Redondo Union (Field 2); Huntington Beach vs. Ocean View (Field 3).

10:30 a.m.: Fullerton vs. Tustin (Field 1); Long Beach Jordan vs. Newport Harbor (Field 2); Dominguez vs. Mayfair (Field 3).

Noon: Redondo Union vs. Garey (Field 1); Ocean View vs. Lakewood; (Field 2); Colton vs. Aliso Niguel (Field 3).

1:30 p.m.: Newport Harbor vs. St. John Bosco (Field 1); Mayfair vs. Fountain Valley (Field 2); Tustin vs. Los Alamitos (Field 3).

3 p.m.: Garey vs. Marina (Field 1); Aliso Niguel vs. Westminster (Field 2); Lakewood vs. Huntington Beach (Field 3).
