Huntington Valley registration is Saturday

Huntington Valley Little League will hold in-person registration for its 2011 season on three different dates beginning Saturday. Other registration dates are Nov. 20 and Dec. 11. Registration is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at league fields ((9191 Pioneer Ave., Huntington Beach).

Parents need to bring an original birth certificate for children they register along with three different, original proof documents showing proof of residency and registration fees. For more information or to register online, visit https://www.HVLL.org.

Distance Derby is Saturday

The 56th annual Distance Derby, the oldest race in Orange County, is Saturday at Pier Plaza. The 10-mile run starts at 7 a.m. The five-mile run/walk begins at 8:30 a.m., followed by the Surf Kids Fun Run at 10 a.m.

The event benefits Project Self Sufficiency. Registration will be accepted the morning of the race starting at 6 a.m. For more information, call the Huntington Beach Community Services Department at (714) 536-5486.

Lacrosse tryout is Sunday

HB Starz Lacrosse Club is fielding two boys’ lacrosse teams — Youth (sixth-grade) and Middle School (7th/8th-grade) — for the upcoming season. Both teams will be coached by Huntington Beach High lacrosse Coach Brian Dunn. Tryouts are Sunday at the Huntington Beach Sports Complex. The Youth division tryout is 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., followed by the Middle School division tryout from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The club’s new season starts up in November. Baseball clinics dates set

Lifeletics Baseball is offering four dates for its new Group Skills Clinics. The first clinic, Group Hitting and Pitching, starts Monday. The cost is $99 for four session. The Beginning Baseball Session II Clinic, an introductory program for youth ages four to seven, is Nov. 15. The Thanksgiving Position Skills Clinic is Nov. 25 and allows participants the chance to choose their position and work through a variety of advanced training schemes. The Winter Camp, set for Dec. 20, is a two-week camp for youth ages five to 13. The cost is $249 per camper. For information on all clinics, call (714) 843-1989.
