Hot Rods edge Muckdogs

The Hot Rods and Muckdogs combined for 18 hits in their Minor A Division encounter Monday and it was the Hot Rods, who prevailed by an 11-9 score at Ocean View Little League.

The Hot Rods went into the lead for good on an RBI single by Brandon Wood and a groundout RBI by Carson Webb in the fifth inning.

Nick Madole of the Hot Rods had a strong game both at the plate, where he went four for four, and on the mound.

Hits by Parker Walpole and Branden Dompke drove in runs for the Muckdogs who took the early lead.

Iron Pigs 11, Red Wings 4: The Iron Pigs overcame a rough start and pounded out 12 hits on their way to a win over the Red Wings Friday.

The Red Wings scored three times in the first inning, but managed just one hit over the final five innings. Iron Pigs pitchers Owen Wessel, Luca Pantel and Nick Skorheim combined for 10 strikeouts.

Skorheim went three for four which included a bases-loaded triple in the sixth, and Wessel went two for four, and each drove in three runs for the Iron Pigs.

Knights 6, Red Wings 1: Cole Kaplan, Matthew Scully, and A.J. Valle combined on a four-hitter as the Knights picked up a victory over the Red Wings.

The Knights took a 2-0 lead in the second inning and doubled that lead on Brandon Lieberman’s two-run double in the fourth. Scully and Joshua Ocampo each scored twice for the winners.

Nick Dagarin had an RBI single in the fourth to account for the lone Red Wings’ run.

Hot Rods 7, Bulls 4: The Hot Rods came up big in the sixth inning to get past the Bulls in a game that saw several lead changes.

The Hot Rods managed to take the lead during the sixth inning when Nick Madole hit a two-run triple that scored Edison Chiu and Micah Kennedy. Brandon Wood went two for three with a double and RBI and scored twice in the win.

Ivan Soto hit a two-run single in the fifth for the Bulls. Pitchers Chris Soto and Tristan Kennedy gave strong performances. Chris Soto struck out six in four innings and Kennedy struck out four.

River Cats 5, Red Wings 4: Dax Villanueva singled in Porter Reynolds with the winning run in the top of the seventh as the River Cats picked up the extra-inning victory on April 22.

The game was tightly contested throughout. The River Cats trailed, 3-2, going to the sixth inning, but managed to take a 4-3 lead after Michael Rubly singled in a run and later scored.

The Red Wings managed to tie the score in their half of the sixth when Nick Dagarin singled in Ryan Bandy.

Majors Division

Angels 11, Reds 3: The Reds grabbed the early lead but the Angels finished strong to win the April 22 contest.

Lucas Catano racked up two RBIs for the Reds on a triple in the second inning, giving his team a 2-0 lead. Starting pitcher Mason Stinson allowed the Angels only one hit without a run during his two innings on the mound. Stinson walked one and struck out three.

The Angels were sparked offensively by Hunter Baclig, who had an RBI-double during a six-run fourth inning, and Christian Cook. The two combined for four hits and three RBIs.

The Angels added to their lead by scoring five runs in the fifth to open up an 11-3 advantage.
