A close contest between the Yankees and Orioles wasn’t decided until the final inning Saturday and once the final out was recorded, the Yankees had prevailed, 6-5, in a Majors division game at Ocean View Little League.

The Yankees started off the game with a single from Sinjin Choi, Nate Skorheim drew walk and Mauro Ballinas doubled to bring in three runs. The Orioles fought back with a singles from Parker Walpole, Vincent Caiazzo and a double by Mathew DeHeras, but Ballinas, starting pitcher for the Yankees, and the Yankees defense, was able to hold off the Orioles until the bottom of the third. In the third, a double by Rocco Peppi, a hard single by Micah Blake, a walk to Caiazzo and a single by Ryan Carles, drove home five runs for the Orioles.

Singles by Skorheim and Jack Miller keyed a two-run rally in the top of the fourth by the Yankees that tied the score at 5-5. They went ahead for good in the top of the sixth on a single by Naeco Logan and an RBI hit by Miller that scored Logan with the winning run.

Choi threw the bottom of the sixth and shut down the Orioles to close out the game.
