Locals ranked in CIF winter polls

Local prep teams continued to hold down rankings in this week’s CIF Southern Section winter sports polls, although there was a changing of the guard in the boys’ basketball Division 2AA rankings.

Edison, which had been ranked No. 1 over the past month, slipped to No. 4 after its 39-37 loss Jan. 12 at Huntington Beach. The Oilers, meanwhile, dropped from eighth, to ninth, in the same poll. Huntington was upended by unranked Fountain Valley two nights after defeating Edison. Falling out of the 2AA poll was Ocean View, which last week was ranked No. 14.
