Shooby dooby down: The Ruby Restaurant Group is launching a streamlined fast-casual concept at its 428 E. 17th St. location in Costa Mesa. The new Ruby’s Dinette will feature a ‘60s ambience, new menu, craft beers on tap and ice cream counter. It will begin by serving breakfast and lunch and expand to dinner offerings starting Sept. 4. Free shred fest: Goodwill Orange County offers free shredding of up to two file boxes or containers of documents on the second Thursday of each month. The next event will be Sept. 11. Bring documents to 3232 S. Fairview Ave., Santa Ana; follow the signs to the drop-off area off West Alton Avenue. Paperclips and staples do not need to be removed before drop-off. Additional boxes or containers can be shredded for 50 cents per pound, with a minimum charge of $20. Video evidence of the shredding will cost an additional $20. Collective soul: A new artisan collective, Seaside Gallery & Goods, will open Sept. 2 at the Pelican Courtyard, 124 Tustin Ave., Newport Beach.
