Police are investigating a break-in and vandalism of a post office in Fieldale that took place on Thursday.

According to a news release, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a breaking and entering at the United States Post Office at 20 Marshall Way in Fieldale around 7:27 a.m. on Thursday.

When deputies and investigators arrived, they found that someone had entered the Post Office through a side window. Investigators found several items inside were vandalized, including computers and fluorescent light bulbs.

During the break-in, someone sprayed a fire extinguisher throughout the building.  The Post Master is now working to determine the value of the damage and if anything was stolen.

Investigators determined that the Fieldale Pool, located directly behind the post office at 70 Marshall Way in Fieldale, was also vandalized.  The filter and plumbing for the pool had been damaged. The estimated damage to the pool was about $200.
