Motorcyclist severely injured in crash

A motorcyclist suffered severe injuries Tuesday morning after colliding with another vehicle in Huntington Beach, according to police.

About 8 a.m., a 33-year-old man traveling south on Gothard Street near Warner Avenue in a blue 2005 Yamaha motorcycle collided with a green 1999 Lexus SUV that was traveling north on Gothard and making a left turn into Ocean View High School grounds, according to Huntington Beach police Lt. John Domingo.

The rider was ejected from his motorcycle. He was treated at the scene by the Huntington Beach Fire Department and transported to UCI Medical Center with severe injuries.

A 16-year-old passenger in the SUV, driven by a 45-year-old woman, complained of pain and was transported to Huntington Beach Hospital, according to a statement from police. The teen was later released.

Police are still investigating the accident.
