One dead, five injured after car crashes into tutoring center

One person has died and five people, including two teenage boys, were injured when a car crashed into The Tutoring Club at Brookhurst Street and Ellis Avenue in Fountain Valley on Monday afternoon, according to police.

Fountain Valley police have identified the victim who died as Alex Martinez, 32, of Huntington Beach.

Witnesses said the driver, a 76-year-old man from Huntington Beach, drove into the building, trapping people under his car, according to a news release.

Police responded to the scene at 12:27 p.m. and Fountain Valley Fire Department rescue workers removed two victims from under the 2011 Buick. Six victims were identified, including the driver.

Martinez was one of two men trapped under the car. A 20-year-old man also trapped under the car suffered serious injuries, according to the release.

Two 15-year-old boys and a 67-year-old woman suffered minor injuries.

All victims were transported to area hospitals. There have been no charges filed in the case.

Fire emergency workers are checking the stability of the structure.
