H.B. man guilty of molesting child

A Huntington Beach parolee was convicted on charges of sexually assaulting a 4-year-old female relative while he was babysitting her, according to the Orange County district attorney’s office.

Gordon Ray Bodkin, 47, was found guilty by jury on Tuesday on unlawful sexual intercourse with a child under 10 and sexual penetration of a child under 10. He could face 55 years to life in state prison and a mandatory lifetime sex offender registration, according to officials. He has a prior conviction for residential burglary in 2009.

He will be sentenced Aug. 30 at the Center Justice Center in Santa Ana.

Bodkin was alone in a Huntington Beach home with his relative on Aug. 9, 2011, when he sexually assaulted her.

Around 5:30 p.m., the victim’s father arrived and found his daughter naked on the bed and Bodkin naked from the waist down straddling the victim. The defendant then grabbed his clothing and ran out of the home, according to the district attorney’s office.

Huntington Beach police arrested Bodkin on Aug. 15 at his Huntington Beach apartment after receiving a tip about his location.
