Authorities are investigating after the body of an unidentified man was found on a Seal Beach jetty.

About 9:30 a.m. Thursday, lifeguards and officers responded to a call about a man lying face down between several large rocks that are part of the southern jetty near Neptune Avenue, police said.

First-responders discovered the man was dead but were unable to identify him beyond saying he is a middle-aged white man, according to the Orange County coroner's office.

He was wearing black Adidas shoes with white stripes, police added.

"Information is extremely limited; therefore, an autopsy will be conducted and the cause of death is pending," Seal Beach police said in a news release.

Authorities asked that anyone with information contact Det. Mary Martinez at (562) 799-4100, ext. 1110, or mmartinez@sealbeachca.gov.
