Man crashes car behind police station

Huntington Beach Police arrested a man Saturday morning after he crashed his vehicle in the grassy area behind the police station, authorities said.

The man lost control of his vehicle as he crossed Utica Avenue while driving north at a high rate of speed on 17th Street around 2:50 a.m., police said.

The vehicle skidded on grass at the northeast corner of the intersection and hit a tree.

Police arrested the man on suspicion of driving under the influence, reckless driving and driving on a suspended license. According to police, he was walked to the police department and booked in the city jail.
