Woman struck, critically injured by pickup truck

A Huntington Beach woman remains in critical condition after she was struck by a pickup truck Wednesday night, according to authorities.

Police found the 50-year-old woman around 7:40 p.m. lying in the road near the intersection of Beach Boulevard and Ellis Avenue, according to a Huntington Beach police statement.

A 70-year-old Huntington Beach man driving a black Toyota Tacoma pickup truck remained at the scene and was interviewed and released by police. No citations or arrests were made, the statement said.

According a preliminary investigation, the vehicle was traveling north on Beach when it struck the woman in the street. Police have yet to determine what direction the woman was walking or if she was using a crosswalk, Sgt. Dave Dereszynski said.

Huntington Beach paramedics treated the victim at the scene and transported her to UCI Medical Center, where she was listed in critical condition. Authorities have not released the woman’s identity.
