F.V. school recognized

All 10 of the schools in the Fountain Valley School District were named to the California Business for Education Excellence’s 2013 honor roll.

This is the second year in a row that all of the district’s schools received the honor, according to a news release.

“It is great to be batting ‘1000’ for the second year in a row,” Supt. Marc Ecker said in a news release. “It is great to have an independent California business entity confirm what we already knew — that every one of our schools is simply outstanding.”

California Business for Education Excellence acts as a voice for California business leaders committed to improving public education and helping to ensure college readiness and success, according to the release. Through the honor roll program, it recognizes higher performing schools in the state.

“Having high standards, effective school leadership, and staying focused on student academic achievement has paid off for these honor roll schools,” said Lee Blitch, the group’s chairman. “These schools are an inspiration.”

The schools named in the 2013 and 2012 CBEE honor roll are Newland, Oka, Courreges, Cox, Gisler, Plaven and Tamura elementary schools as well as Talbert, Fulton and Masuda middle schools.
