Industrial fire forces evacuation

Share

A fire in an industrial oven in a Huntington Beach building injured one employee and forced an evacuation, according to authorities.

Firefighters responded to a call in the 15000 block of Chemical Lane at about noon Saturday after an employee from Advanced Composites Products and Technology Inc. reported that a resin material had caught fire inside the oven, according to a Huntington Beach Fire Department statement.

An employee extinguished the fire.

The Fire Department spent a few hours ventilating the building to get out smoke and odors and making sure the fire was out.

One employee was treated at the scene for minor injuries, according to officials.

Authorities said they believe the resin was left in the oven too long and the heat caused it to ignite.
