Three arrested in car-to-car shooting, pursuit

Huntington Beach police arrested three men Tuesday suspected of being involved in a shooting at Springdale Street and Bolsa Avenue, authorities said.

Jaime Molina, 24, and Nicholas Rangel, 19, both of Westminster, and a juvenile were booked into Huntington Beach City Jail and Juvenile Hall on suspicion of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.

Police received a call around 9 p.m. regarding the shooting, and authorities arrived to find a victim who suffered a minor gunshot wound from a car-to-car shooting, according to a press release.

The victim was transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive.

Officers located the suspects’ vehicle shortly after on Gothard Street and a nine-mile pursuit ensued, according to the statement. Police recovered a handgun that was thrown from the vehicle during the chase.

Police were able to use a pursuit intervention technique and stopped the vehicle near Newland Street and Heil Avenue.

Authorities are investigating the relationship between the victim and the suspects and the motive of the alleged shooting.
