Milton (Mickey) Michael Flicker 87
Passed away peacefully of natural causes at his home in Huntington Beach California on September 7, 2011. Born in New York City on February 3, 1924 to Polish immigrant parents Benjamin and Ethel Flicker. He served during WWII in the Army Air Force, as a radio operator and navigator. During his career in the clothing industry and while working for a major mid-west department store he pioneered the “Bargain Basement” retail concept, a forerunner to today’s major national discount department stores. Later in his career he struck out on his own and established the highly successful men’s clothing company, Left Bank. He lived in Southern California for over 40 years, mostly in Newport Beach and Huntington Beach, as he loved the ocean, sailing as well as photography and hunting. Music was an important part of his life as he played the drums and had an enthusiasm for Big Band and Jazz. He was extremely gregarious and humorous.
He was predeceased by his sister Gloria. He is survived by his children Barrie Anne, Michael, Eric and Bennett, daughters-in-law Lyudmila and Sherry, and 8 grandchildren Elayne, Samantha, Anton, Nicholas, Margaret, Alison, Berkley and Braxton as well as his faithful K9 companion, O’Neil.
A memorial celebration of his life will be held Sunday September 18th 1-4 PM at SeaCliff Country Club, 6501 Palm Ave, Huntington Beach, CA 92648.
