Huntington Beach received the heaviest rain of the year Tuesday night causing flooding, fallen trees and 60 tons of debris to be washed onto streets and parks.

Surf City received nearly 2 inches of rain Tuesday night, adding to the more than 7 inches the city has also gotten over the last seven days, officials said.

The excessive rain caused flooding on Magnolia Avenue, south of Hamilton. Officials closed off the southbound lanes at 8 a.m. Wednesday.

The city’s Public Works department has been responding to calls of flooding, trees falling down, potholes and roofs leaking over the last two days.

Officials reported 10 park trees and 13 parkway trees have fallen down and 60 tons of debris has been removed from streets and parks.

Rain is expected to continue through the night with sunny skies Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

Power is reportedly out in portions of Surf City.
