Women’s Club hosts Christmas sale

The Women’s Club of Huntington Beach will hold a Christmas sale, its last fundraiser for the winter, at 8 a.m. on Saturday at 8491 Lomond Drive.

Club treasurer Rosemary Trout said the group is appreciative of what the community has done to help them raise money since their building burned down a year and a half ago. They have raised a bit more than $1,000 with the small fundraisers they have held so far.

The original clubhouse at 420 10th St., which was more than a century old, was destroyed April 30, 2011. Fire officials said the blaze was accidental and was apparently caused by an electrical malfunction.

Trout said the sale would include homemade crafts, along with donated items still in their original wrap.

“There are donated toys and ornaments — things for all walks of life,” she said.

The event will be held in the alley near the corner house on Lomond Drive off of Newland Street.

“We will have the light pole decorated,” Trout said.

Trout said the small fundraisers are a necessity because the club does not currently have a space big enough for larger events.
