Woman claims lifeguard truck hit her on beach

An 18-year-old who’s alleging that a lifeguard truck hit her while she was lying on the beach wants to hold the city responsible.

Huntington Beach resident Miranda Sosa filed a claim Nov. 15 calling the city negligent after she was allegedly struck by the truck. A claim is the precursor to a lawsuit.

The claim is for an unspecified amount of more than $10,000.

Sosa was lying in the sand June 13 about 3:50 p.m. when the front left tire of a lifeguard truck hit her while making a U-turn on the beach, according to the claim.

She was left with scratches and bruising on her face, headaches, pain in her left arm and neck, and loss of vision in her left eye, according to the claim.
