Fountain Valley police get $60K grant

The Fountain Valley Police Department has received a $60,000 state grant to improve roadway safety, the department announced in a release Thursday.

The grant from the Office of Traffic Safety, which is good for one year, will cover specialized DUI and drugged-driving training for officers, DUI saturation patrols, stepped-up enforcement and the compilation of DUI “hot sheets” that identify chronic offenders, among other things.

“The Fountain Valley Police Department is committed to public safety on our roadways,” Police Chief Daniel S. Llorens said in the release. “We realize that no one likes getting a ticket, but also we know from experience that enforcement modifies driving habits. Safety violations, especially those related to impaired driving, are definitely on our radar screen.
