Final candidate count sits at 5 for Fountain Valley

The field of candidates for Fountain Valley City Council has been finalized, with five contenders running for two open seats.

By the deadline at 5 p.m. Wednesday, incumbent Steve Nagel, former Councilwoman Cheryl Brothers, La Quinta High School graduate Bryan Tice, Allen Tire Co. vice president of operations Patrick Tucker and Chase assistant branch manager Duy Tan Nguyen had qualified for the ballot.

The deadline was extended five days for non-incumbents because Larry Crandall, who has served three terms on the council, opted not to run again.

The general election will take place Nov. 6.
