Planners vote against expanding Pierside Pavilion

The Huntington Beach Planning Commission voted Tuesday against the expansion of Pierside Pavilion, a beachside complex whose owner had hoped to expand by 30,000 feet and add a restaurant and other amenities.

The commission voted 3 to 1, with Elizabeth Shier Burnett absent and Barbara Delgleize recusing herself due to campaign contributions. Blair Farley, a commissioner since 2006, had recently announced his resignation.

According to city spokeswoman Laurie Frymire, the commission denied the project’s mitigated negative declaration 3 to 1, then split on the project’s other entitlements before voting 3 to 1 against them following a consultation with counsel and the commission’s bylaws.
