More than 600 people are expected to gather this weekend at Huntington Central Park for the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life.

About 44 teams, made up of cancer survivors, family members and friends from Huntington Beach and throughout the county, are scheduled to take part in the walk, games and activities to raise more than $100,000 for the organization Saturday and Sunday, according to a release from the American Cancer Society.

One of the event’s highlights is the Survivor Lap, where cancer survivors walk together, celebrating their victories over the disease. The other is the Luminaria Ceremony, the lighting of hand-decorated candle-lit bags to commemorate loved ones who have battled cancer.
