Changes made to online calendar

Share

The Huntington Beach Independent is excited to announce the launch of our new online calendar system.

With the help of Costa Mesa-based social calendar company SquaredOut, we’ve revamped the way we present local calendar listings to our readers. The most notable difference is that now readers can submit their calendar events directly to us.

Our calendar listings can be accessed from the Independent’s home page, as well as https://www.hbindependent.com/calendar. Readers will notice a “submit event” button on both of those pages. If clicked, a box will pop up, allowing people to type in all information pertinent to the event, as well as upload an image to accompany it. The more details offered, the more useful the information will be for the community.

Once submitted, the listing will go to Independent staff to review and approve. We reserve the right to edit or delete any listing that doesn’t fit our guidelines. We ask that readers keep the subject matter tasteful and relevant only to our coverage areas: Huntington Beach, Fountain Valley and Sunset Beach. Any events outside those cities will not be approved.

We hope that by allowing the public to submit their own events, our calendar will become even more well-rounded and informative.

Another new feature is the ability to share events with friends and family through Facebook and Twitter, as well as add any event to personal online or mobile calendars.

Any questions or comments about the new system can be directed to web editor Kelly Parker at (714) 966-4682 or kelly.parker@latimes.com.
