Ocean View Little League champions to kick off 2012
Ocean View Little League, which drew worldwide attention to Huntington Beach last year when it won the Little League Baseball World Series, will start its new season Saturday with an all-star ceremony.
Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Huntington Beach), Huntington Beach Councilman Joe Carchio, former Angels player and announcer Rex Hudler and former Dodgers star Tommy Davis are among those scheduled to attend the unveiling of a pedestal and plaque celebrating the championship. The ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. at Murdy Park, near Goldenwest Street and Warner Avenue in Huntington Beach.
“This memorial will serve as a reminder to all our athletes and all future generations of Little Leaguers that they can accomplish anything in life, if they will work hard to pursue their dreams,” Ocean View Little League President Stephanie Green said in a release.
Ocean View, making its first-ever appearance in the Little League Baseball World Series, won the championship Aug. 28 on a two-out, bases-loaded single by Nick Pratto that lifted the All-Stars to a 2-1 victory over Hamamatsu City, Japan.
