Authorities detained a few more people who are believed to have been passengers on a boat that landed the morning of Feb. 2 in Huntington Beach near Seapoint Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway.

Huntington Beach police responded for the second time at noon after a resident reported seeing more people around the same area where the boat landed last week, said Lt. Brian Seitz.

An unspecified number of people were found on foot and detained.

The Border Patrol was en route to take custody of the detainees, Seitz said.

The police department received a call from the Border Patrol about 5 a.m. Feb. 2 asking for assistance in capturing the boat and its occupants.

A 24-foot panga style boat was found with 14 illegal immigrants on it, said Scott Simon, a Border Patrol agent with the San Diego Sector public affairs office.

They were arrested at 5:50 a.m. and the subjects were sent to the San Clemente Border Patrol station for processing and further investigation, Simon said.
