Man critically injured in intersection

Police have identified the man who was critically injured after a vehicle hit him at Euclid Street and Stonecress Avenue about 5:30 p.m. Sunday in Fountain Valley.

He has been identified as Mike Nguyen, 43, from Garden Grove.

Fountain Valley police responded and paramedics transported the victim, who sustained a traumatic head injury, to a local hospital.

According to a police report, a preliminary investigation shows the man was walking northbound along the sidewalk of Euclid and entered the intersection at Stonecress. The vehicle made a right turn from northbound Euclid to eastbound Stonecress and hit the man, the report says.

Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a contributing factor in the collision, police said. No arrests have been made.
