Huntington Beach police are looking for a hit-and-run driver they believe was involved in an early-morning crash that killed a pedestrian from Costa Mesa.

The Orange County coroner’s office identified the victim as 28-year-old Matthew Aguilar.

Police said Aguilar was in the middle of Pacific Coast Highway near Brookhurst Street in Huntington Beach when a Cadillac sedan hit him at about 4:30 a.m.

After the initial crash, a second car struck Aguilar, according to police.

“The second vehicle and its driver fled the scene and has not been identified,” police said in a news release. “The vehicle would likely have damage to the front end and undercarriage.”
