Coast Community College District Trustee Jim Moreno was re-elected this week to a policymaking board that represents all 72 California community college districts.

He secured the second-highest number of votes in this year’s race.

Moreno will serve his second three-year term on the 21-member board of directors of the California Community College Trustees, which is part of the Community College League of California, according to a news release.

California Community College Trustees board members are elected by 72 local governing boards statewide.

“I am thrilled to have been chosen to continue to represent the elected officials that govern California’s community colleges on the CCCT Board,” Moreno said. “We must continue to fight for funding for our students and our colleges.”

Moreno, a Democrat, has served as a Coast Community College District trustee since 2006, representing portions of Huntington Beach, Westminster and Seal Beach. He is also vying for a county supervisorial seat in the November election in District 2 against Assemblyman Allan Mansoor (R-Costa Mesa), Board of Equalization member Michelle Steel and Huntington Beach Councilman Joe Carchio.

He currently serves as chairman of the Coast Community College District’s Personnel Committee and vice chairman of the Land Development Committee.
