Various art forms, including paintings, photos, mixed media and bronze sculptures, are on display until Oct. 11 at City Hall.

The exhibit is a preview of Artist Open Studios, an event that will feature 25 artists, mainly in Laguna Canyon, opening their studios to the public the first Saturday of each month beginning Oct. 6, said Sian Poeschl, Laguna Beach’s cultural arts manager.

Work can be viewed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday through Oct. 11 in the main corridor at City Hall, 505 Forest Ave.

Any artist with a studio that is not also used as a home was welcome to participate in the Artist Open Studios program, in its fourth year, Poeschl said.

Artists include Muffin Spencer-Devlin (blown glass), Lydia Delgado (painting), Sandy Groves (ceramics), Cheyne Walls (landscape photography) and Louis Longi (bronze sculpture), according to a list provided by Poeschl.

“It’s an opportunity to glimpse how artists work and the space where they create their work,” Poeschl said. “A lot of artists will offer hands-on experiences as well.”

Admission will be free and the public can park in the Act V lot at 1900 Laguna Canyon Road, where a trolley will pick them up and take them to their desired locations, Poeschl said.

Studios will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on designated Saturdays through March 1.

Laguna Beach lodging establishments and the city funded the project.
