Madeline A. (Fettig) Hallacy, age 79, of Holland, Mich., passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at Hospice House of Holland.
She was born in Petoskey on Jan. 28, 1933, and attended St. Francis School and Petoskey High School. In 1954, she graduated from Aquinas College, then furthered her education in special education at Eastern Michigan University.
In 1955, she married love her life, Lou, and they have been married 57 years.
In 1956, they moved to Holland, Mich., to settle and raise their family.
Madeline is survived by her husband, Louis "Lou;" children, Don (Karen) Hallacy of Marietta, Ga., Lou G. (Lynn) Hallacy of Holland, Mary Speet of Holland, John (Ellen) Hallacy of Battle Creek, Mich., Peggy (Steve) Gorno of Zeeland, and Joe Hallacy of Gulf Shores, Ala.; as well as 13 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Delores (William) Spangler and Margaret Kammert of Grand Rapids; and brother-in-law, John C. Hallacy, of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.
Mass of Christian burial took place 10 a.m. today, Monday, Jan. 14, at St. Peter's Church, St. Peter's Drive, Douglas, Mich., with the Rev. Tim Curry officiating. Burial was in Graafschap Cemetery.
Visitation was 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Mulder Chapel, Dykstra Funeral Homes in Holland.
