The Huntington Beach police chief’s daughter is being held on $50,000 bail for allegedly stabbing her husband Monday morning during a dispute in Midway City.

Jennifer Sue Small, 31, was arrested in a hotel on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and inflicting injury on her spouse, said Jim Amormino, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Department.

Police Chief Ken Small said his family has been “dealing with this issue for over 10 years” and that there is nothing left for him to do as a parent to help her that he hasn’t already done.

“It’s sad. There are so many families that go through this, and we are just one of them,” he said.

Small said he doesn’t think his daughter will get special treatment because of his position.

“She has to suffer the consequences of her actions like anyone else would,” he said.

Jennifer Small is being held in the Central Jail Complex. She is expected to be arraigned Wednesday at the West Justice Center in Westminster.

Jennifer Small’s husband called police to the Beach West Hotel at 15401 Beach Blvd., Amormino said. Jennifer Small allegedly stabbed her husband in the chest during a domestic dispute, he said. The wound was non-life-threatening, Amormino said.

Jennifer Small has had several prior convictions. She pleaded guilty to misdemeanor driving under the influence in 2005, public intoxication in 2006, trespassing while driving and public intoxication in 2008, and trespassing in 2009.

She was also charged with misdemeanor child abuse and endangerment and possession of controlled substance in 2006 and misdemeanor corporeal injury on a spouse and vandalism in 2009, but the charges were dismissed.
