Fisler reelected to LAFCO

Jim Fisler, president of the Mesa Water District, was recently reelected to the Orange County Local Agency Formation Commission as an alternate special district member.

LAFCO, an 11-member board of seven regular commissioners and four alternates, provides oversight to boundary changes by cities and independent special districts, and encourages efficient delivery of municipal services to millions of Orange County residents, according to a news release.

Fisler, a longtime Costa Mesa resident and Realtor with Torelli Realty, was reelected to the board by a special selection committee June 13. His second term begins July 1.

His past efforts for LAFCO, which he first joined in 2011, have included reviewing annexations to the Orange County Water District’s groundwater basin.

“As a commissioner, Jim Fisler ensures that he is prepared for each meeting and knowledgeable about special district projects as well as each proposal that comes before the commission,” LAFCO Executive Officer Carolyn Emery said in the release. “During his tenure, Mr. Fisler has been present at every meeting and actively participates in each meeting by asking pertinent questions to ensure that the commission and public are well-informed.”

LAFCO commissioners receive $100 per meeting, with a maximum compensation of $200 per month.

In Costa Mesa, Fisler also serves on the city’s Finance Advisory Committee and on the board of directors for the Costa Mesa Senior Center and Friends of the Costa Mesa Libraries.

He has served on Mesa Water’s board since 2009.
