Orange Coast College signed a pledge this week to support veterans by enhancing resources, programs and policies for students who served in the military.

The Costa Mesa community college joined the Education Pillar of Got Your 6, a movement led by a consortium of major film and television studios, cable television networks and talent agencies with the aim of improving the lives of American veterans, according to a news release.

OCC, with a population of 600 student veterans, offers assistance through the campus Veteran Resource Center including tutoring, academic counseling and personal counseling and helps them access housing and financial aid, the release stated.

“Our goal is to provide comprehensive support services to help student veterans meet their educational goals,” Vice President of Student Services Kristin Clark said in the release. “We offer on-going training for faculty and staff to promote an understanding of what our student veterans need.”

The Got Your 6 Education Pillar’s goal is to collect pledges from 500 colleges and universities by June.
