Surf City Surf Dog contest this weekend

Huntington Dog Beach will host the canine equivalent of the U.S. Open this weekend, as owners bring their pets for an annual surfing competition.

The Surf City Surf Dog contest, now in its fifth year, will start with opening ceremonies and a fashion show Friday and continue the next day with dog yoga and canine costume and owner look-a-like contests. The final day, Sunday, will feature surfing competitions in the morning and afternoon.

An expo featuring more than 40 pet-related vendors and organizations will run Saturday and Sunday.

The contest offers four weight divisions for dogs along with a tandem heat. Competition fee is $50.
