Just in time for summer, Surf City beachgoers and vacationers will find a new resort restaurant at the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort & Spa.

Watertable, featuring contemporary American food, replaces the hotel's Californian, which closed in November.

Executive chef Manfred Lassahn, formerly with the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza, says the Orange County restaurant features the region's local produce "through a menu of comfort food with attitude."

To celebrate summer, the grill-centric restaurant will offer on weekend nights Southern-style Sunday suppers with a "California twist," he said. "The communal experience includes a family-style main dish served alongside the table's choice of sides and endless cheddar sage biscuits and apple butter. "

The chef's menu includes entrees such as Honey Lavender Berkshire Pork ($28), Seared Diver Scallops with Lemon Butter Sauce ($28) and Hangar Steak ($27).

Designed to showcase the Pacific, Watertable resembles a rustic residential space, with a living room, library, family kitchen and an outdoor patio with ocean views. There is also a gastro pantry and bar that serves breakfast in the morning and cocktails in the evening.

Watertable joins the hotel's other food and beverage facilities, the Red Chair Lounge and Pete's Sunset Grille.

The Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort & Spa features 517 rooms, including 57 suites. Resort amenities include the 20,000-square-foot spa, water playground and a lagoon-style swimming pool.
